About me

Since 2016, Dr. Steven Schepanski has been deeply involved in interdisciplinary research, particularly focusing on pregnancy and child health. His doctoral thesis, titled "The Role of Maternal Microchimerism and Prenatal Stress for Perinatal Brain Development and Cognition," earned him the highest honors of summa cum laude. Concurrently, he completed a rigorous two-year graduate program in molecular biology, which provided a solid foundation for his research career.

Throughout his postdoctoral fellowship at institutions such as the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Harvard Medical School, Steven's research encompassed a wide range of topics. These included maternal health, the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the efficacy of vaccinations, the mother-child relationship, and the inflammatory mechanisms underlying early childhood neuro-psychiatric disorders in clinical and preclinical settings. His work has significantly contributed to the understanding of these complex issues and has been published in numerous high-impact journals, as well as leading to several invited talks.

About me

Steven's expertise in biostatistics and bioinformatics has been instrumental in advancing research methodologies and analytical techniques. He has developed and applied sophisticated statistical models and bioinformatic tools to uncover insights from large and complex datasets. This expertise has not only driven his own research forward but has also enabled him to mentor and support numerous graduate students, helping them develop their own skills in statistical analysis and research methodology.

In recent years, Steven's focus has shifted towards evaluating the efficacy of interventions, with a particular emphasis on mindfulness. At Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin, he is at the forefront of efforts to validate and implement these interventions, ensuring they meet rigorous scientific standards.

In 2024, Steven's commitment to mental health and well-being led him to volunteer with krisenchat.de, an organization providing crisis support for children and adolescents. This role allows him to apply his expertise in a practical setting, offering immediate assistance to those in need and contributing to the mental health and resilience of young people during critical times.
